At that time they were decommissioned and disconnected from the grid and have been idle since. A perceived quality inspection was completed in March of 2016 and indicated that the rotors on two of the turbines did not turn freely and several inches of water stood in one if the nacelles. The full inspection report is available upon request. The buyer will be solely responsible for (a) obtaining and maintaining any permits licenses or other approvals needed or connected with the removal from Buffalo Mountain transportation storage use or ownership of the wind turbines and (b) all costs associated with obtaining any approvals required and the disassembly removal loading storage and transportation of the wind turbines form Buffalo Mountain to the winning bidders choice of final location. Purdue will document the disassembly and recovery of components from the wind turbines. The information collected will be shared with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and will be leveraged to support research activities by Environmental & Ecological Engineering (EEE) graduate students and faculty. Ultimately it is envisioned that the collected data will be critical to developing technologies and procedures that can be applied to end-of-life wind turbines on an industrial scale. Therefore upon prior written notice from Purdue to the buyer and consistent with any terms stated in such notice the buyer will be authorized to remove the three wind turbines.
