He finds himself here at the shelter because his previous guardian is no longer able to care for him. Dexter is looking for a calm forever home with adults of any age who will give him the time he needs to adjust to his new family s life and living arrangement. It is important that his new home be dog-free as Dexter is terrified of dogs. Also he has not lived with children of any age but he is such an affectionate fellow that he might enjoy the companionship of polite children age 10 and above who will handle him gently and treat him with respect. He has always lived as an only pet and no doubt he will thrive as the sole recipient of your attention and affection. Dexter will appreciate a small room to call his own for some time as he settles into his new home. In addition to all the usual kitty essentials including a generous-sized litter box Dexter will most want your company to help him relax and regain his confidence. Visit him often offering soft words of comfort and reassurance that all will be well. He loves to be petted and brushed which will be a great way to bond with him.
