We tried them for years to be sure they were durable convenient to use healthful and attractive - to the chickens as well as to us. As you see in the pictures - they scratch and peck all around but stay near the coop. When evening comes they go inside ready for you to close the door. The last three pictures are of a 4x6 and 3 feet tall coop that we use for our own flocks (Nine hens and 1 rooster share that coop).
