SHAG is the largest operator of affordable rental apartment communities for seniors in the Puget Sound region with existing communities in 28 locations and seven more under development. Independent Living Inc. is seeking a part-time Cook. We are seeking a qualified individual who is motivated results oriented and committed to providing outstanding customer service every day. The Cook reports directly to the Food Services Manager and is responsible for the preparation of attractive appetizing nutritious meals for residents. JOB FUNCTIONS Prepare meals according to menus and recipes including special diets and textures. Baking and scratch prepared food experience required. Adhere to proper food sanitation policies and procedures. Assure proper food storage adhering to proper policy and procedure. Assure kitchen is cleaned after meals including but not limited to pots and pans surfaces and floor. Perform special kitchen tasks according to schedule. Resolve resident complaints regarding food or food services graciously and promptly. Supervise food service employees in absence of Food Services Manager. Serve as a role model for others by displaying responsible cooperative positive attitude. Maintain current food handler s permit as necessary to fulfill state or provincial regulations. Attend education and training classes as necessary to fulfill state or provinicial regulations. Log and report damage and repairs needed in kitchen. Report problems to Director promptly. Adhere to dress appearance code. Other duties as assigned. Note Workweek may include weekends and or split shifts and overtime depending upon urgency need and company policies and procedures. Position is hourly non-exempt. All overtime must be approved by Management. Compensation 10.50 hr.
