Communications Specialist &ndash Theatre

Directs and oversees communications marketing and recruitment programs that effectively describe and promote the OSU Department of Theatre its academic programming and its production season in a wide variety of media and media outlets and in tandem with other OSU units. Oversight and maintenance of all ticket sales and promotions including season tickets individual tickets group sales sales in advance and sales at the box office prior to every main stage performance. Serves as reception for the department office including answering main office phone number distributing mail phone messages and information materials to theatre faculty and staff greeting all visitors and patrons and additional duties as assigned by the Department Head. Some local and in-state travel for recruitment development and public relations purposes as well as for the purchase of office supplies and supplies for departmental events etc. Night and weekend hours are required during performances for all faculty-supported main stage productions. At times Heavy student and general traffic in the Seretean Center because of the use of the Vivia Locke Theatre and Seretean Center Concert Hall by student and outside groups. Occasionally subject to nearby band instrument noise which may cause disruptions. Lifting of cartons of paper supplies recruiting materials etc. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Minimum qualifications Bachelor s Degree in Arts Administration Communications Marketing Business Administration or related field and 3 years experience in Arts administration Communications Marketing Business Administration or any related field. Extensive computer experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and programs like Photoshop Illustrator InDesign and other desktop publishing software thorough knowledge of and facility with social media and social media trends skilled at creating email and presentation templates web development and website editing skills a plus strong writing copywriting copyediting and public speaking skills strong graphic design skills the ability to work closely with writers and artists in other creative units that design communications marketing and advertising materials. Work with printing vendors writing specifications and managing print projects. Preferred Qualifications Experience in photography and videography (on-line portfolio available).
