Editorial Coordinator

Oklahoma State University s Editorial Coordinator will oversee University Marketing and Communications content creation and editing processes to enhance brand awareness among prospective students and their families current students employees alumni donors and other internal and external populations. The Editorial Coordinator will utilize skills in content planning prioritization writing and editing to help implement OSU s strategic marketing and communications plan which includes improving recruitment retention and reputation management. The coordinator will also oversee the editorial vision for several key institutional publications including OSU s online news properties and institutional magazines. This includes project management and coordination of publishing dates audience targeting story accuracy relevancy and more. The coordinator will assist in unit and campus-wide training and supervise university writing efforts. The Editorial Coordinator must have a strong grasp of current strategic communications marketing and outreach strategies and be able to lead content creation processes from concept to execution. This position is responsible for maintaining relationships within the OSU Marketing and Communications Offices supporting teams such as graphic designers web developers and programmers videographers and content writers outside agencies and consultants and communicators across the OSU system to write and distribute content on time and on budget. The coordinator is expected to proactively identify story opportunities that showcase OSU s points of distinction and direct the tone and theme of university long-form content. They will oversee quality and clarity of written communication by serving as OSU Marketing and Communications primary editorial filter. The individual should demonstrate self-direction creativity and strategic thinking in managing Oklahoma State University s editorial processes. Some work after hours work required as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor s Degree in Journalism Communications English or a related field. Three years of related work experience in content creation editing publishing including planning and supervision of publication editorial processes for print and digital. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to organize materials write edit visualize concepts communicate and interpret goals including demonstrated proficiency in the use of AP style. Must possess excellent people skills and effectively deal with multiple contacts or stakeholders for projects. Project management experience required. Demonstrate knowledge of communications and aligning content with audience needs. Ability to work cross-functionally with supervisors unit staff and campus partners to ensure collaborative environment coordinated efforts and maximized outcomes. Must learn quickly and adapt to quickly changing environment. Exhibit supervisory skills and strong attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with contending priorities and tight deadlines. Demonstrate creativity integrity and passion for growing the brand of Oklahoma State University. Preferred Qualifications Master s Degree in Journalism public relations communication English or a related field. Five plus years of successful experience in public relations communications.
