Financial Controller Location Halifax NS Exciting opportunity for growth with a local real estate company We re looking for a Financial Controller to process real estate transactions manage company finances Responsibilities Preparation of all budgets and forecasts ensuring the business meets or exceeds budgetary needs Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place Manage treasury and cash management functions Provision of analytical measurements and strategic financial advice on the overall direction of the company and each individual project Review accounts payable and receivableS Approve invoices for payment Post all transactions on a timely basis Monitor negotiate any expenditure on behalf of the office ensuring best quality for price isobtained Meet with Chartered Accountant to review overall financial and tax position Ensure tax compliance and tax filing (in partnership with external accounting firm) Prepare year-end information for external accounting firm Regularly meet with the Financial Advisor and Banker to review investment opportunities and receive updates on current market trends Coordinate all company payroll and tax remittances Invoice agents monthly for expenses due to the company Review company contracts periodically Act as lease administrator for all commercial and residential leases Ensure file compliance in accordance with real estate trade by-laws and records Complete bank reconciliations Responsible for reconciliations and discrepancies of trust account on a monthly basis in accordance with NSREC by-laws Manages the bid and tendering process including annual contract review Create and maintain financial policies Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Accounting 2-3 years of related experience preferably in a small business and or real estate environment
