This position is a nine-month 100% teaching nontenure track faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Instructor. The position is a joint appointment between the Department of Agricultural Education Communications and Leadership (AECL) (50%) and the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) (50%). The position reports to the AECL department head and works collaboratively with faculty and staff in AECL BAE and other units in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR). The successful candidate will manage the teacher certification program in agricultural education (AGED) and teach agricultural systems technology (AST) courses required of agricultural education majors. Management of the agricultural teacher certification program includes monitoring students progress meeting teacher certification requirements assisting with academic advising as well as working with other AGED faculty coordinating and conducting student teacher supervision. The AST courses have historically included laboratory and field skills such as lab management and project construction agricultural electrification metals and welding small engines and agricultural structures. A primary responsibility is to ensure adequate technical skills associated with the certification program for school-based agricultural education teachers while also providing a level of knowledge consistent with a university-based education. The position is to be filled by August 1 2018 or as soon thereafter as a qualified candidate is available. This nine-month teaching instructor position is a renewable term non-tenure track appointment in AECL. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Required qualifications Candidates must have a master s degree in Agricultural Education or a closely related discipline and must have experience teaching school-based agricultural education. Experience and expertise teaching agricultural mechanics are required. Candidates must have excellent speaking and writing skills an ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level and a desire to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
