It is a collection of thoughts ideas influences and everyday minutiae that has shaped my experience in Jackson and before. Woodcut printmaking to me has always been about process. The process of personal growth of continual learning. The process of taking an idea creating an image and transforming that into a physical object. It is a sculptural draughtsmanship. Cuts & Scrapes refers not only to the physical act of carving the blocks but to the trials big and small that we all face as we discover ourselves. With respect to an ancient printmaking tradition I aim to capture a bit of the beauty and levity in the day to day. Artist BioBorn and raised in Walpole MA Erick Nelson has been making art since he could hold a crayon. His mother is an industrial and toy designer from Dublin and his dad is a math teacher and jack of all trades who grew up on a farm in Kansas....
