Environmental Monitor - Project - Job ID 2273 Position Overview The Environmental Monitor assists the Environmental Team meet the requirements of various provincial and federal Acts and regulations and other regulatory instruments by assisting with environmental data collection and management regarding activities on site. The Environmental Monitor will conduct surface groundwater air and soil sampling label process and ship samples to the laboratory manage field and laboratory data including electronic database input conduct weekly site inspections with an emphasis on fugitive dust fuel domestic waste and hazardous waste storage and spills management. Additional duties may include participation in waste water treatment processes report writing training of employees (e.g. spill response and wildlife encounters). Responsibilities Be knowledgeable of the requirements of all environmental authorizations permits licences and other regulatory instruments Be knowledgeable of all site health safety and environmental programs Conduct daily weekly monthly quarterly and annual sampling and monitoring programs as required by applicable authorizations permits licenses and other regulatory instruments and any site and corporate requirements Compile and maintain environmental data and records including results of site inspections field sampling notes field measured sample results etc. Conduct a preliminary evaluation of field and laboratory data for anomalies and report these to the Environmental Manager Compile and enter field and laboratory data into the EQWin database Perform regular environmental inspections of the mine site(s) using the supplied template complete template and submit to the Environmental Manager Inspect and maintain spill kits located around the mine site(s) Respond to environmental incidents and spills as required complete spill reporting forms Maintain an inventory of sampling equipment and materials and restock as required Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time Requirements Degree or diploma in related environmental program Previous work experience an asset Good written and oral communication skills Good organizational skills and ability to manage timelines and priorities An enthusiastic team player who works well under pressure Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Basic level of data management software Knowledge of handling and use of surface water groundwater air and soil sampling equipment Transportation of Dangerous Goods trained Working in the outdoors in all weather conditions Bondable - A Criminal Record Check is required Job Type Temporary City Kamloops To APPLY Register and Submit Your Resume to this job at excel.bc.ca opportunities (Resumes accepted only in Word Document format) Excel Personnel has been hiring Great People at Exceptional Companies Servicing Western Canada since 1992 Excel Personnel provides Permanent Temporary Contract Staffing Solutions Payrolling Services and Executive Search Services for all occupational areas Management Sales & Marketing Finance & Accounting Administration & HR Manufacturing Operations Distribution Positions available throughout BC Alberta in Management Sales & Marketing Administration & HR Finance & Accounting Manufacturing Operations Distribution Engineering Information Technology & IT Support
