Vessel Oiler Trainee

Position Oiler Trainee Location Bering Sea Pacific Ocean Gulf of Alaska Aleutian Islands Overview Oiler Trainees work aboard a catcher processing vessels in the Bering Sea Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands. They work under the Chief Engineer and Factory Foreman and assist with conducting repairs fabrication and maintenance in the factory and other parts of the ship. Works half of shift as a Processor. Duties and Responsibilities as Oiler Possess sound mechanical knowledge and experience preferably from fishing vessels or similar processing equipment Assists with vessel repairs and greasing equipment within the factory including pumps motors belts and conveyors During vessel offloads in port assist with adjusting belts changing of hoses and filters. Understand and comply with all company safety policies and procedures Must be available to work both at sea and in the shipyard periods Processor Responsibilities Convert raw product being fished into a frozen-at-sea marketable product ready for sale Sort fish by species size and condition Tend and operate machinery Inspect product to ensure it meets Glacier Fish Company quality standards Package weigh and label product Place product into freezers Operate and clean factory equipment Participate in offload of frozen product at end of trip Load and unload other supplies on the vessel Physical Ability and Skills Work 16 hours per day 7 days a week in all kinds of weather conditions 8 hours in the factory 8 hours with Engineering Understand instructions and safety rules in English Board and exit vessel without assistance by climbing up and down a gangway or Jacob s ladder Capable of climbing and descending steep stairs and vertical ladders Perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time Be away from medical attention for up to 3 months Repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds Share spaces with others including crew quarters dining areas and bathrooms To Apply s iquique.applicantpro.com jobs 497774.html
