Responsibilities include The Senior Manager Learning Development is a key member of the Learning Development team and will lead Development Managers (Instructional Designers) in the development of training across BMSC including sales marketing digital reservations and revenue management disciplines globally. The Senior Manager is hands-on in developing training content and contributes specialized knowledge and skills in implementing innovative and effective adult learning strategies. This individual will design and develop training that facilitates behavior change transfers critical knowledge and develops technical and strategic skills in our associates. Assists Director Learning Development in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and ensuring training meets the business needs and objectives. Works closely with Marriott BMSC discipline and project leads and serves as a subject matter expert for learning and is relied upon to provide expertise as needed. Generally works under limited supervision but within established guidelines producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process. This associate will be responsible for developing training to support business as usual operations as well as the build and implementation for new initatives integration efforts enhancements and upgrades to existing training for the groups supported. The individual plans and analyzes the functional and business support of specific learning needs and works closely with business leaders numerous internal support teams and vendors to ensure the successful development and integration of the learning deliverables. Participates in project teams and supports the prioritization of work for key stakeholder groups. Responsible for the selection supervision and development of staff in accordance with company policies and procedures as applicable. This position can be located remotely with some travel to our corporate headquarters in Bethesda Maryland. Candidate Profile Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience in the subjects below and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows Strong leadership and critical thinking skills Strong instructional design and training development experience and expertise Demonstrated success working in a complex service-intensive deadline-driven environment Demonstrated success in working with and influencing cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization Hospitality Industry and Marketing expertise preferred with general knowledge of Sales Call Centers and Revenue Management BS BA degree is required. Advanced degree a plus. Minimum of 5 years of related work experience General Expected Contributions Design and develop learning solutions to meet business needs Contributes to team department and or business results by performing more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and or projects. Provides analysis and planning assistance to the discipline leads within the context of learning design and development. Leads and manages execution for learning deliverables and serves as escalation point with vendor for assigned projects. Core Work Activities Business Functional Results Lead training development team members and projects in support of BMSC priorities Design develop and implement training strategies programs and processes as they relate to Brands Sales Marketing Digital Call Centers and Revenue Management discipline to include modes that are high tech high touch. Explore alternative methods mediums of providing training to the field. Allocate resources to meet project deadlines budget goals and changing business and or market needs. Ensure training is global and applicable across all brands within each discipline when applicable. Assess business needs and work with business representatives stakeholders to scope project requirements including creation of Statements of Work (SOW). Create e-learning using software such as Captivate and Articulate Storyline and other e-learning programs and web and video conferencing software. Solicit and incorporate feedback from subject matter experts and assess evaluation feedback to make appropriate changes. Managing Execution Assign and prioritize projects according to the individual strengths of team members and funding structure. Provide direction to the development team with regards to individual project management. Project management responsibilities with an emphasis on leading the efforts on medium to large sized initiatives that affect all brands and multiple audience types. Partner with business project leads Delivery counterparts and Development peers to manage successful execution. Identify methods for measuring the effectiveness of training. Work as a project leader to achieve results in a team environment. Manage multiple projects and processes on time and on budget. Generating Talent Responsible for ensuring the development team is staffed appropriately representing all stakeholders Maintain top performance levels by placing the right talent in the right jobs within the department. Enable associates to deliver excellent performance by creating appropriate developmental plans to enhance strengths and address opportunity areas. Strategic Leadership Lead training development managers toward the accomplishment of identified key departmental objectives contributing to the business success with a focus on the design and development of BMSC Training. Plan and execute a communication strategy to ensure stakeholders are appropriately informed. Building Relationships Collaborative approach serves as a team player Ability to work with global teams from different cultural backgrounds. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders across regions brands and disciplines. Work with multiple stakeholders gaining credibility with varying levels of management including Senior leaders. Foster team work maximize efficiencies and work to promote effective synergies between the Development and Delivery teams within L D and with partner disciplines. Work along with business partners to ensure training meets the needs of the individual stakeholders and audience members. Learning & Applying Personal Expertise Utilize strong field experience to ensure training and facilitators are meeting the needs of the audiences represented and are effective in the learning and development of the participants.
