Installation of new plumbing systems using the proper materials methods and procedures. Installations shall meet any local state and BOCA codes. Repairs to existing plumbing systems. Utilities installation repairs and maintenance. Must be able to size lines select proper materials install materials to meet codes and make repairs. Miscellaneous support to all shops as to proper materials methods and practices in the installation of plumbing systems. Perform other duties related to operations maintenance and renovations to buildings and equipment such as preventive maintenance light duty carpentry painting electrical and other miscellaneous repair and maintenance activities and respond to emergency and urgent work. Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies or any other event after 5 p.m. weekdays weekends and holidays. Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can t be accomplished during regular hours and when the Management staff deems necessary. The incumbent will be required to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working condition. Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of the weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings Saturdays Sundays and when the University is closed. Work may be performed in generally cramped and dirty quarters around pressurized systems and hot lines. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and in excess of 50 lbs occasionally. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves safety glasses etc.). These items are not for personal use. Required High school graduate GED with four years of prior successful work experience in plumbing gas piping installations and other utility experience in the building trades or technical field at a building maintenance organization or two years post-secondary education in the building trades or technical field with two years of prior successful maintenance experience in a university commercial or industrial building maintenance organization. Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver s license. A valid driver s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Working knowledge of plumbing codes and how to install systems to meet these codes. Knowledge of various materials that can be used and meet all codes. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to become proficient in the use of AiM computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology. Preferred Two years post-secondary education in the building trades with three years of prior successful work experience with plumbing gas piping installations and other utility experience in the building trades or technical field at a university commercial or industrial building maintenance organization.
