Install repair and perform maintenance on overhead and underground primary high voltage electrical distribution systems. Repair and maintain all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment. Inspect all types of overhead and underground distribution equipment and document findings. Install and renovate new and existing electrical systems and equipment. Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and or any other event requiring work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings Saturdays Sundays holidays and when the University is closed. Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can t be accomplished during regular hours and when the Management staff deems necessary. Overtime is an essential function of this position and may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings Saturdays Sundays holidays and when the University is closed. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves respirator arc flash apparel safety glasses etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use. The incumbent will be required to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working order. Must be able to respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of the weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings Saturdays Sundays and when the University is closed. Position may involve exposure to the following physical danger and or environmental hazards Noise wet vaults and tunnels working in rainstorms snow and dusty conditions. Seasonal considerations include heat of summer and cold during the winter. Working with high voltage cramped areas pole climbing and confined spaces. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. All other duties as assigned. Promotional opportunities may be available through established career development plan. Required High School GED and a minimum of two years of experience in electrical or powerline work in a directly related field. One year of documented technical education training in an electrical field may substitute for one year of required experience. Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver s license. A valid driver s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Class B Commercial driver s license (CDL) required within six months of hire for operation of departmental equipment. Commercial industrial and or utility electrical distribution experience. Skilled in interior and exterior distribution installation primary high voltage termination and splicing and electrical metering. Working on ladders and at heights pole climbing variable speed drive repair electrical calculations and the ability to interpret National Electric Code. Preferred High School GEDJourneyman level knowledge of electrical and distribution lineman work and knowledge of motor repair.Ten years of experience with high voltage motor repair electronics troubleshooting controls and electrical construction. Two years of documented technical education training in an electrical field may substitute for two years of required experience. Class B Commercial Driver s License (CDL) before hire to operate departmental equipment. OSU certified in trenching shoring and confined space entry techniques within 6-months of hire. Industry certified in medium voltage splice and termination procedures. Commercial industrial and or utility electrical distribution experience. Skilled in interior and exterior distribution installation primary high voltage termination and splicing and electrical metering. Working on ladders and at heights pole climbing variable speed drive repair electrical calculations and knowledge of or the ability to interpret National Electric and Safety Codes. Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
