Building Maintenance Mechanic II - Oklahoma State University

Analyze problems in the heating ventilation and air conditioning systems and make repairs. Calibrate and set controls. Repairs to building utilities plumbing systems and miscellaneous carpentry work. Maintain and repair kitchen equipment. Refrigeration and miscellaneous electrical repairs. All other maintenance and repair duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and or any other event after 5 p.m. weekdays weekends and holidays. Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can t be accomplished during regular hours and when the Management staff deems necessary. The incumbent may be required to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working condition. Work activities can involve exposure to rotating equipment heavy loads etc. Work can occur in confined spaces and involve temperature extremes and heights. The work performed can often by dirty wet dusty and noisy. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves safety glasses etc.). These items are not for personal use. Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of the weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings Saturdays Sundays and when the University is closed. Required High School Graduate GED with four years of prior successful work experience with mechanical HVAC and or electrical experience in the building trades or technical field at a building maintenance organization or two years post-secondary education in the building trades or technical field with two years of prior successful maintenance experience in a university commercial or industrial building maintenance organization. Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver s license. A valid driver s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Certified EPA Refrigerant Usage card before hire and maintain after hire. Knowledge of State and Federal Mechanical and Electrical Codes knowledge of Safety Regulations broad knowledge of construction and maintenance. Ability to work in confined spaces. This position requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to become proficient in the use of AiM Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology. Preferred Two years post-secondary education in the building trades with three years of prior successful work experience in mechanical HVAC steam piping plumbing and or electrical experience in the building trades or technical field at a university commercial or industrial building maintenance organization.
