Walk with a Doc

The Parks and Recreation Department will host a walk once a month at local Austin parks trails. A doctor or healthcare professional gives a 3-5 minute talk on a health topic of their choice and leads participants on an easy 1 mile walk along the trail. During the walk community members have the opportunity to ask the doctor questions and engage in informal conversation. Prior to the walk the City of Austin s Health and Human Services Department will offer free blood pressure checks and cholesterol screenings. Following the walk the Parks and Recreation Department will provide healthy snacks and giveaways such as t-shirts pedometers and water bottles.
