I have a rare Mini Macaw for adoption. He is a DNA male rare Yellow Collared Macaw. These are extremely difficult to find. He is in full feather and in good health. I was told he is approximately 4 years young and has plenty of years left as these birds have been known to live 60-80 years. He eats a healthy diet consisting of NO peanuts or sunflower seeds. Mostly, tree nuts and fruits/ veggies. Yes, he talks! A lot! He says several words and phrases. His former owners did not treat him very respectfully and so it has rendered him fearful of people and so he is semi-tame. He will step up on his terms and sit on your hand or shoulder, but he doesn t care much for being touched and can be a little cage aggressive. He can most definitely be worked worked with, in the right home. He does prefer the company of other birds, and would do fine in such a home. He needs a home with experience preferably with macaws, and NO small children. I will not rehome him to anyone. I will not lower my price, Of course, I am not asking the same amount but due to the rarity of his species and the special care he needs I am requiring an adoption fee for him. I am moving into a situation that involves a 2 year old and I feel its best for both parties if I rehome my Macaw to a responsibile caring individual, before anyone asks.
