old but not dead

I am 53. I want trust and someone who accepts me for the person I am as I am without trying to change me into someone SHE wants me to be. I would like to find someone to live the rest of my days with. To me what interest me most in a woman is having a good personality and an unselfish heart. She does not have to be a beauty queen but must be beautiful on the inside. I work for a Property Development Company turning old buildings into modern offices and such. Mostly construction work. I like to sit by the fire in the back yard or take long drives and walk along the shoreline at the beach even during the cold seasons. Seeing people happy and hearing laughter turns me on but turn offs are filth and selfishness and self-centered people who think they are better than anyone else. I love people. I am someone who hugs when leaving even if someone I just met. I believe God put us on this earth for one reason and one reason only. To help other people make their own lives easier to the best of my capabilities even if only to offer a smile or an ear to listen. I do walk away from arguments when someone is too riled up to talk calmly or rationally. I do not hit women and think any guy who does should have his balls cut off but I do leave the room or the house until she has calmed down enough to talk things out. I do not have children and at 53yrs old its probably too late to have any but do love kids and treat my nieces and nephews as if they re mine. I believe that if I get involved with someone who has children then I love and accept all of her and her children as well. I would prefer to meet someone local but realize that sometimes we have to put in that extra effort to find the things we want in life and would travel a reasonable distance to find my other half. I believe that yes God helped me through several operations and even more but I am not a practicing believer as in going to church and such. I would go with someone if they wanted me to though. I live paycheck to paycheck to pay off my car and insurance and rent and such so I am not a rich man and have little to offer. I am just me. I have simple tastes and lead a simple life. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU NEED TO KNOW. I did serve time in prison on forgery charges and there is a long story behind it if you would want to know it or even want to know me now. I weighed 210 this time last year but lost 60lbs this year due to swallowing problems and need surgery for it soon. I now only weigh about 155 so I am a skinny balding old man who just wants to enjoy life
