NEW HIGHER SALARY 82 011 to 159 922 The ChallengeWe are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer Manager to join our team to coordinate statewide service groups from our Raleigh headquarters. In this role you will Administer our team s limited services contracts by initiating and overseeing advertisements monitoring utilization assigning work to consultants under contract and monitoring preparation of contract documents. Monitor consultant evaluations and deliverable reviews. Address quality and performance issues with consultants. Verify expenditures through contracts communicated to project managers and funds maintained for consultant payment. Assist regional offices and other business units with consultant expenditure projections for project services. Provide oversight and ensure equity of consultant and contractor prequalification renewals and requests. Work with our unit head to oversee coordination development and implementation of training and certification programs for the team and consultants such as field logging workshops contracts training process and policy update presentations etc. Manage our statewide contracts group that supports our regional geotechnical investigations and designs sections by assembling contract documents reviewing scopes and estimates and managing projects or deliverables. Manage our statewide Geopavement team that focuses on investigating existing pavements and subgrades and implementing use of chemical and mechanical stabilization methods during construction. Manage our statewide GeoEnvironmental group that identifies properties of concern related to hazardous materials and provides recommendations for remediation and disposal. Manage our technical support team that assists with the distribution of deliverables through SharePoint providing database and application support and developing and maintaining policy procedures and standards. Work with our unit head and regional managers to identify potential process improvements and assist with developing and implementing strategic plans. Participate in technical committees and panels to assist organizations such as TRB AASHTO NCHRP etc. What You BringKnowledge of the principles and practices of geotechnical engineering and engineering geology related to highway design and construction to solve highly technical design problems and offer technical advice to construction engineers and maintenance staff. Experience understanding explaining and administering engineering contracts. Experience interpreting policies procedures regulations and laws. Strong communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with private engineering firms staff other government agencies and the public. Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in engineering and 6 years of engineering experience and 4 years of supervisory experience or An equivalent combination of training and experience. NotesWe may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. Occasional overnight travel is required.
