NEW HIGHER SALARY 38 516 - 67 404 The ChallengeWe are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician II to join our Forsyth County Maintenance team. In this role you will Provide technical support to the Forsyth County Maintenance team. Assist in inspections of commercial driveway permits right-of-way utility encroachments erosion control traffic control devices and roadway construction. Inspect contractor performance including guardrail repairs long arm mowing and roadside mowing. Perform routine project inspections to ensure general compliance with plans and specifications and submits required records reports & diaries within specified time frames. Work inside and outside in extreme environmental conditions and around hazards at highway construction sites including heavy equipment and highway traffic. What You BringExperience conducting independent moderately-complex inspections with limited supervision. Experience independently conducting inspections for compliance with contract agreements and specifications. Experience maintaining neat legible and accurate records and reports including computer iPad data entry. Working knowledge and understanding of NCDOT concepts practices and theories used in highway maintenance. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and basic math. Ability to obtain and keep current QMS Asphalt & Concrete Testing Certifications Roadway Density Certifications and Erosion Control Certificates Levels II & III. Ability to perform moderate physical activity such as standing walking climbing and kneeling. Ability to effectively communicate in English. Safety toe shoes. NoteYou will be exposed to extreme conditions such as ice snow difficult terrain dust extreme heat and cold high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment. Education & ExperienceAssociate s degree in Civil Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related field and 2 years relevant technician-level experience or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
