Volunteer For The Elderly

I would like to volunteer in a nursing home to help with the elderly. I am retired and looking for something that I enjoy to fill the void of not working.I might consider something outside of a nursing home setting if the fit is right. I do have previous experience of working in a nursing home and enjoyed my time there.I watched my elderly mother suffer with depression because she lived alone and the only time she had someone to talk to or spend time with was when I would visit. I did my best to visit weekly but it couldn t always be worked out that way. We lived about an hour away from each other so when I did visit I would usually spend a few nights with her sometimes longer. I ve heard from others and seen myself how many of the elderly are just left alone without anyone to care. I lost my mother July 1st and decided that I would do whatever I could to help other elderly people even if it only meant a social visit to help with their loneliness.I will not charge anything or anyone for help that I might be able to provide it is my passion.
