In this role you will Serve as assistant resident engineer supervising staff responsible for stakeouts and inspections of roads and structures in contract construction. Promote a safe working environment. Perform keeping records necessary for preparation of monthly and final estimates. What You BringExperience reading and interpreting highway construction plans and contracts. Working knowledge of general concepts practices and theories used in construction construction inspection and or construction surveying. Experience administering contracts and communication with contractors. Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods materials and equipment. Customer service experience dealing with the public and other units in a positive manner. Ability to understand explain and administer contracts interpret construction plans provision standards and specifications. Proficiency at plan reading highway engineering calculations and survey instruments necessary to supervise the stake-out of line and grade for roadways and structures. Communication skills to communicate effectively with contractors to ensure compliance with contract plans standards and specifications. Ability to communicate establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers contractors and the public. Ability to withstand extreme weather and terrain conditions while performing project inspections. Skills to train coordinate and supervise junior transportation technicians. Safety toe shoes. Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in engineering or An equivalent combination of training and experience. NoteNight and weekend work may be required.
