NEW HIGHER SALARY 49 158 - 86 026 The ChallengeWe are looking for an experienced Surveying Technician to join our Asheville Resident Engineering team. In this role you will Perform survey work on complex construction projects. Supervise survey crews and junior technicians. Make independent decisions. Review contractor s survey submittals and provide checks of their construction layouts in the field. Drive and place survey stakes and operate surveying instruments. Cut brush. Run materials tests and inspect roadway bridge projects. Ensure all work is done in accordance with established policies and procedures. Serve as a survey crew member. What You BringSurveying experience using surveying equipment instruments levels data collectors and GPS equipment. Solid math skills using with math functions including algebra geometry and trigonometry. Experience performing highway construction stakeouts. Experience conducting independent moderately complex surveying. Computer skills using Microsoft Office and drafting software. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Good eyesight to use testing instruments read plan details make accurate field measurements and inspect roadway and structure components. Ability to perform entry level technical work on materials and perform sampling testing and inspections to determine specifications. Ability to exercise limited decision making and judgment. Ability to safely perform manual tasks involving the use of bush axes and other tools on steep slopes and rough terrain. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions terrains and hours. Strength to lift 50 pounds. Safety toe shoes. Education & ExperienceAssociate s degree in Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related field and 7 years relevant technician-level experience or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
