NEW HIGHER SALARY 38 516 - 67 404 The ChallengeWe are looking for a skilled Engineering Technician to join our District 1 Permitting team. In this role you will Perform on-site inspections for compliance with NCDOT standards for driveway connection construction encroachment installation and subdivision street construction. Monitor illegal use of highway right-of-way for signs utilities and private activities. Assist in collecting field data for the review of driveway permits site plans utility and non-utility encroachment agreements subdivision plans and road additions abandonments. Meet with utility representatives contractors property owners and others to discuss adherence to policies procedures and to answer questions. Address complaints from the public by phone written correspondence and in person. Operate a computer to prepare documents and maintain databases. Assist our Division during emergencies and bad weather. Assist our District Engineer with tasks. What You BringExperience conducting independent moderately-complex inspections with limited supervision. Good engineering judgment to assess construction plans contract provisions and inspection procedures. Experience maintaining neat legible and accurate records and reports including computer iPad data entry. General knowledge of surveying. Computer experience using apps on iPads and computers. Education & ExperienceAssociate s degree in Civil Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related field and 2 years relevant technician-level experience or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
