NEW HIGHER SALARY 60 570 - 61 063 The ChallengeWe are looking for a skilled Engineering Technician to join our Southern Ave Engineering team as a lead project inspector serving both Cumberland and Harnett counties. In this role you will Be a lead project inspector conducting independent complex inspections of structure and roadway items for project construction. Review safety- and environmental-related items. Supervise junior inspectors performing routine and moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with contract agreements standards and specifications. What You BringKnowledge and understanding of NCDOT highway and bridge construction. Knowledge and understanding of contracts plans standards and specifications. Working knowledge and skills using computers software and math functions. Experience performing inspections sampling and materials testing (concrete asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications. Working knowledge of pay record book entries and material received reports. Ability to evaluate and apply engineering judgement to plan interpretations. Communications skills to establish and maintain positive communications between technicians engineers contractors and the public. Agility to traverse rough terrain in evaluation of highway construction. You apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations. Ability to work in close proximity of high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment. Attention to detail to accurately maintain daily records of work accomplished. Ability to safely drive a State vehicle. Safety toe shoes. Education & ExperienceAssociate s degree in Civil Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related field and 2 years relevant technician-level experience or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
