Come in and try our Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine perfect for grabbing a quick lunch or for large dinner parties We are looking for an experienced chef to join us being part of our team to serve our community. If you specialize in South Asian and Chinese cuisine enjoy cooking and culinary arts and are available to work during weekends we encourage you to apply. Position ChefCuisine Speciality South Asian and Chinese cuisine (Cantonese Szechuan)Type Permanent full-time for 30-40 hours per weekWork Setting Full-service restaurantWork Conditions fast-paced long-standing physically demandingCompensation waged 40 per hourBenefits Paid annual vacation Discounted staff mealsEmployer Lin Heung RestaurantAddress 120-3749 Shelbourne St. Victoria BC V8P 5N4 Job Requirements Specialized in South Asian and Chinese cuisine 2 years experience as a chef or cook in a restaurant setting College diploma or higher or apprenticeship on-the-job training Demonstrate job commitment accountable and reliable Positive proactive self-motivated work attitude Leadership skills able to lead kitchen operation Able to supervise 5-6 people Food Safe Certified Shifts during weekends are a must Responsibilities Prepare and cook dishes regularly according to our menu and cuisine specialty prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events Prepare ingredients before cooking such as cleaning chopping butchering Estimate food requirements and materials for various dishes Present and store food in appropriate conditions Ensure the quality of food meets Lin Heung Restaurant s standards Direct kitchen operation following the head chef s instruction Instruct other cooks in the preparation cooking and presentation of food Demonstrate cooking skills and handle cooking equipment Coordinate with kitchen staff and servers to serve customers Create new recipes plan menu and ensure food tastes Supervise other cooks and kitchen staff Maintain a clean replenished organized kitchen Update inventory and order food raw materials and groceries Ensure kitchen operation meets food safety and health requirements Be responsible for cleanliness hygiene equipment and tool maintenance We provide competitive pay and a friendly work environment.
