Proverbs 9 8 Reprove not a scorner lest he hate thee rebuke a wise man and he will love thee. Reprove 1. To blame to censure. 2. To charge with a fault to the face to chide to reprehend. 3. To blame for with of as to reprove one of laziness. 4. To convince of a fault or to make it manifest. 5. To refute to disprove. 6. To excite a sense of guilt. The heart or conscience reproves us.Scorner 1. One that scorns a contemner a despiser. 2. A scoffer a derider in Scripture one who scoffs at religion its ordinances and teachers and who makes a mock of sin and the judgments and threatenings of God against sinners.Rebuke 1. To chide to reprove to reprehend for a fault to check by reproof. 2. To check or restrain. 3. To chasten to punish to afflict for correction.(Don t waste your time on trying to teach one that just scorns your words to your face. God does not want His wisdom forced on anyone and wasted. God wants each person to come on their own accord to seek His love and help (free will). Forced love is not true love and God seeks the pure love from our soul and mind. That is the only way that God s love will work. Forced love is called rape speaking physically and that is not of God. Love must come from the heart and a desire that comes from changing of that person from within. If a scorner mocks you then turn away from that person. If a person is still a scorner after you rebuke him that person will hate you. There is nothing you can do to change the mind of a scorner until he or she has reached the bottom and then cries out to Father to help him. When he chooses to change his life then he is open to wisdom and guidance from God. When you rebuke a wise man with the facts there is gratitude and love for the assistance and suggestion).Question 1 Why do so many not want to hear the truth from Gods word John 3 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light neither cometh to the light lest his deeds should be reproved. [Light symbolizes God and His truth darkness equals the opposite everything that is anti-God the wicked evil liars and lying deceit etc. All who do evil hate the truth they fear their sins will be exposed they fear accountability they are ashamed. See Ephesians 5 12-13. Hopefully some can even be brought to repentance when their sin is exposed].Some of the many pertinent verses Psalm 96 3 119 142 & 160 Matthew 24 14 28 19-20 Mark 16 15 John 1 1-9 8 31-32 14 6 Acts 26 18 Ephesians 4 25 (share the truth with others) 1 Thessalonians 5 5.Question 2 What did Jesus have to say about those that will not listen or receive the good news of His gospel scorners Matthew 10 14 And whosoever shall not receive you nor hear your words when ye depart out of that house or city shake off the dust of your feet.Matthew 7 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs neither cast ye your pearls before swine lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you. (If you are going to teach and share God s word teach it and share it to those who seek it not to those who really don t care or reject it).Question 3 Why are some not able to understand or receive the word of God Remember it would be a waste of time to try and force the wisdom of God on someone.2 Corinthians 4 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God should shine unto them.Matthew 13 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias which saith By hearing ye shall hear and shall not understand and seeing ye shall see and shall not perceive (If you can t hear you can t listen their spiritual ears are closed).Question 4 Will those that choose not to believe now at least briefly change their minds and acknowledge God exists According to the next two verses there is coming a time in the future that it will happen. Sadly not all will stay that way some won t make it into the eternity. Read Revelation 20 15 and 21 8 in a KJV Bible for your answer.Isaiah 45 23 I have sworn by myself the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness and shall not return That unto me every knee shall bow every tongue shall swear.Philippians 2 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth Question 5 Why do so many hate the truth Many call it hate speech when truth from Gods word is shared with them. It is apparent that many will not listen to or cannot recognize true love (truth) in other words tough love.One of the main reasons why people hate the truth Many people have a disdain for the truth because the truth requires them to change it convicts them. When we come in contact with the truth we have only two choices do something or nothing at all. There is no neutral position you MUST make a choice. In other words truth and conviction demands that you make a change. This change is to better you. Unfortunately change is excruciatingly difficult to impossible for many.Maintaining the status quo not changing trying to please man instead of God going with the flow and not perturbing the system is more convenient and comfortable. It is common to hear some say It is better to deal with the devil you know than the devil you do not know . In other words change is associated with uncertainties and is riskier. This type of thinking is flawed and it is keeping many people in bondage to the flawed way of thinking.The disdain for truth is rooted in the demand for change by the truth. That is why in this day and age many are trying to do away with the truth under the pretext of everybody has their own truth all truths are the same and anything goes. Unfortunately this is flawed thinking as well known as subjective moral reasoning (SMR).Final thoughts It is very obvious there are some folks you can reach with the gospel and some you cannot. Do what you can then move on. Don t waste God s wisdom on a scorner.
