What or who is the serpent in the Garden of Eden and elsewhere Genesis 3 4 And the serpent said unto the woman Ye shall not surely die [Can serpents talk or is this meant to be symbolic only One of the first lies also]. 2 Corinthians 11 3 But I fear lest by any means as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. [Please research the definition of the word beguiled in the above verse. A good place to start is a Strong s Exhaustive Concordance. Ezekiel chapter 28 is about Satan it says in verse 13 that he was in Eden the garden of God. Wow] Revelation 12 9 And the great dragon was cast out that old serpent called the Devil and Satan which deceiveth the whole world he was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him. [That old serpent called the Devil and Satan. What does he do Deceives the whole world. Wow] Revelation 20 2 And he laid hold on the dragon that old serpent which is the Devil and Satan and bound him a thousand years [God is doing the binding here. Would He bind something that is only symbolic] I have included some of the other pertinent verses Job 1 7 and 12 Job 2 2 Mark 1 13. [Did God and Jesus converse with a symbolic entity] Food for thought Some view Satan the serpent and the Devil as just a symbol principle or quality of evil that exists inside us. However the Bible records a conversation between God and Satan. God is perfect so he could not have been talking to an evil part of himself. (Deuteronomy 32 4) Likewise Satan tempted Jesus who is God in the flesh and free of sin. (Matthew 4 8-10 1 John 3 5) Thus the Bible shows that the Devil is real and not merely a personification of evil.If you want to be free from the bondage of deception (caused by Satan himself listening to false teachers those that are biblically illiterate liars etc.) learn the truth by studying the word of God completely as we are commanded to do don t be destroyed for lack of knowledge of God s word. Another really good reason to study is you will not hear God s word today where you should hear His word (in church) don t let the god of this world (Satan serpent) blind you. 2 Corinthians 4 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God should shine unto them. 2 Timothy 2 15 Study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. John 8 32 And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. John 17 17 Sanctify them through thy truth thy word is truth. Amos 8 11 Behold the days come saith the Lord GOD that I will send a famine in the land not a famine of bread nor a thirst for water but of hearing the words of the LORD (That famine for hearing the Word of the Lord is upon us now. People are starving for the truth in the Word. Sadly fairy tales false teachings traditions and commandments of men are all that are taught in most churches today. You can overcome the famine by actually studying the word of God yourself what a concept). By studying the Bible yourself you will discover amazing things that sadly you will never hear while sitting in a church pew.
