The Hahn s Macaw scientifically described as Diopsittaca nobilis nobilis (previously Ara nobilis nobilis) is the smallest of all the macaw species. There are three sub-species of Diopsittaca nobilis.These mini macaw parrots are collectively known as the Red-shouldered Macaws. The Hahn s Macaw is not only the smallest of the macaw species but is the smallest member of the Red-shouldered Macaw group. It is a very tiny macaw reaching only about 12 (30 cm) in total length. The other two subspecies the Noble Macaw D. n. cumanensis (previously A. n. cumanensis) and the Long-winged Macaw D. n. longipennis (previously A. n. longipennis) are slightly larger reaching about 13 -14 (31-33 cm).
