NEW HIGHER SALARY 41 429 - 72 500 The ChallengeWe are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our Division 4 Construction team. In this role you will perform both office and field duties including Support senior engineers in the administration of medium to large highway construction projects. Monitor daily projects progress and resolve constructability issues to maintain project schedules. Direct and schedule technicians in staking out and inspecting every phase of a construction projects to ensure they are built according to plans and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner. Manage all aspects of construction projects with limited supervision from senior engineers. Supervise and train engineering technicians including NCDOT staff and contract construction inspectors. Coordinate reviews of technical plans and drawings related to driveway permit applications utility encroachment requests subdivision design standards and road addition packages. Maintain project dairies on a daily basis including correspondence with contractors. What You BringApplicant should have knowledge of the principals and practices of Civil Engineering and highway maintenance methods techniques and the use and operation of field and office engineering instruments. Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans. Experience planning developing scheduling tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision. Customer service skills related to solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups. Skills evaluating and applying engineering judgment to construction plans contract provisions and inspection procedures. Experience maintaining neat legible and accurate records and reports including computer iPad data entry. Ability to take detailed notes. Good communication skills. Ability to supervise the activities of junior staff and instruct them on proper work methods. Education & ExperienceAssociate s degree in Civil Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related field and 3 years relevant technician-level experience or An equivalent combination of training and experience. NotesYou will be required to work nights and weekends as needed for emergency and planned operations in all types of weather conditions and on uneven surfaces. You may be subject to a wide range of hazards such as rough or uneven terrain and or work adverse weather conditions to include heat or cold.
