Soul sleep

What happens to our souls and spirits when our flesh bodies die Some choose to believe that our souls and spirits are in the grave awaiting the return of Christ and the resurrection of our flesh bodies souls and spirits they don t know we have two bodies (see 1 Corinthians 15 35 below and 1 Corinthians 15 40-50 in a KJV Bible). Some call this soul sleep . There are others that believe that the spirit is with God upon death and these flesh bodies in the grave will be resurrected in glorified form at Christ s return. I believe differently based on the following verses among many. 1 Corinthians 15 11 Therefore whether it were I or they so we preach and so ye believed.1 Corinthians 15 12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead 1 Corinthians 15 13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead then is Christ not risen 1 Corinthians 15 14 And if Christ be not risen then is our preaching vain and your faith is also vain.1 Corinthians 15 15 Yea and we are found false witnesses of God because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ whom he raised not up if so be that the dead rise not.1 Corinthians 15 16 For if the dead rise not then is not Christ raised 1 Corinthians 15 17 And if Christ be not raised your faith is vain ye are yet in your sins. 1 Corinthians 15 35 But some man will say How are the dead raised up and with what body do they come 1 Corinthians 15 44 It is sown a natural body it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is a spiritual body. [We have two bodies a natural one and a spiritual one. See 2 Corinthians 5 1-8 when we die we are present with the Lord. The spiritual body is what one spends eternity in not their flesh natural body. What does the word raised mean in 1 Corinthians 15 44 Resurrection (a transition from flesh to spirit) is what I think it means]. Ecclesiastes 12 6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed or the golden bowl be broken or the pitcher be broken at the fountain or the wheel broken at the cistern. (What this verse is saying is when these flesh bodies of ours die).Ecclesiastes 12 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. (Our spirit return to God who gave it sounds pretty plain to me). 1 Thessalonians 4 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning them which are asleep that ye sorrow not even as others which have no hope.1 Thessalonians 4 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.1 Thessalonians 4 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. Prevent G5348 fthan -o apparently a primary verb to be beforehand i.e. anticipate or precede by extension to have arrived at (already) attain come prevent. Asleep G2837 koy-mah -o from to put to sleep i.e. (passively or reflexively) to slumber figuratively to decease (be a- fall a- fall on) sleep be dead (The subject of the above verses is what happens when we die death in other words. It is not about sleeping. Verse 14 refers to the death of Jesus). These 2 definitions are from a Strong s Exhaustive Concordance. Try the following website for a good explanation s www.gotquestions.org soul-sleep.html Other pertinent verses in my opinion Mark 12 27 Luke 16 19-31 1 Corinthians 15 40-50 (we have 2 bodies) 2 Corinthians 5 6-8 2 Timothy 2 18 Revelation 7 9 etc. I m sure there are more. Many do not believe in cremation of a dead flesh body for the above reasons. What happens to the souls and spirits of those that die in a fire or are blown to bits by an explosion I would like to hear that explained using verses from the KJV Bible.
