NEW HIGHER SALARY 45 675 - 79 932 The ChallengeWe are looking for a Construction Specialist to join Division 4 Construction team in our Halifax office. In this role you will Lead onsite technicians or perform inspections of highway construction projects. Supervise staff on construction projects. Conduct and coordinate reviews of technical plans and drawings relating to driveway permit applications utility encroachment requests subdivision design standards and road addition packages. Coordinate preconstruction meetings and onsite inspections of all construction activities within the Right of Way conducted by private developers utility owners and NCDOT contractors. What You BringConsiderable knowledge of the principals practices of Civil Engineering and highway maintenance methods techniques and the use operation of field office engineering instruments. Experience planning developing scheduling tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision. Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups. Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems. You work best in a team environment to complete assignments. Computer skills using Microsoft Office and drafting software. Ability to plan organize and schedule highway maintenance operations. Maturity and wisdom to make independent decisions. Working knowledge of standard road maintenance and construction procedures. Ability to operate state vehicle. Communication skills to work effectively with co-workers NCDOT staff contractors local and state officials and the public. Ability to understand explain and administer project assignments. Skills to interpret plans provisions specifications policies procedures and regulations. Management PrefersCandidates with a valid Driver s License. NoteYou will be required to work nights and weekends as needed for emergency and planned operations in all types of weather conditions and on uneven surfaces and slopes. Education and ExperienceAssociate s degree in Engineering Technology and 6 years of relevant technician experience or High School GED diploma and 8 years of relevant technician experience or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
