Sushi ChefUma Sushi is looking for an experienced and energetic sushi chef to join us. The candidate needs to be positive and accountable to ensure the successful operation of the restaurant. This includes the culinary presentation and the health and safety compliance of the location. The position requires management duties to ensure operations in accordance with the restaurant standard policy and procedure. This position will report directly to Chef Ma.JOB REQUIREMENTSMust have a passion for Japanese culinary arts Good knowledge of various sushi types and rolling techniques Dedicated and accountable work in a team environment able to work fast and accurately A college diploma or same level related education or training is preferred Minimum one-year sushi chef experience in a Japanese restaurant setting Able to work on Saturdays JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDirect food preparation and cooking activities while on duty Create a rich authentic sushi menu with carious main ingredients and raw fish Prepare all types of dishes according to Uma Sushi menu including sushi roll donburi nigiri and sashimi appetizer and combo Select fresh fruits vegetables and other ingredients to make high-quality dishes Estimate food requirements cost and labor Manage kitchen operation and give directions to other cooks and helpers supervise activities of other workers Demonstrate cooking skills in an open kitchen train cooks and kitchen helpers Order kitchen supplies and ingredients Coordinate with wait staff to ensure proper cooking consideration of the special request and food allergies Consult with customers on food tastes ingredients and portions Maintain hygiene principles in all cooking areas and ensure compliance with health protocols and safety programs especially during COVID-19 Job Type Permanent full-timeWage 30.00 per hourJob Location VancouverHOW TO APPLYBy email umasushiinfo(at)gmail.comBy mail 450 W 8th Ave Vancouver BC V5Y 1N9 About us Bringing a blend of authentic flavors and a true umami experience Uma Sushi is a traditional Japanese eatery located in a bustling part of Vancouver.
