Accounting and Development Associate (Entry Level)

The Children s Home of Pittsburgh is seeking Full-Time Accounting & Development Associate. The entry level Accounting & Development Associate position will assist in the day-to-day nonprofit accounting functions in the Finance department. This position will be responsible for general accounting data entry and database duties. This Accounting & Development Associate will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the Accounting Manager. Enters invoices into Evident accounts payable system to be processed for payment. Verify invoices are approved for payment according to company policy. Ensures checks are printed secure signature copy signed checks and mail out. Scan invoices into the vendor records in the accounts payable system according to established process and file. Coordinate all accounts payable documents. Reconciles certain invoices such as ePro Owens & Minors etc. Review and resolve vendor statements. Maintain Donor Perfect database consistent with Development Department requirements. Maintain Greater Giving program and other such event programs. Ensures that all donations and gifts received are entered into the Donor Perfect donor database records. Design and run reports for audit and others as needed. Enters monthly journal entries into the accounting software and post to general ledger on a timely basis that fits within the monthly closing cycle. Assists in coverage for the receptionist on a rotating schedule. Scan documentation into material management systems. Assists Accounting Manager and CFO with special projects and other duties as assigned. Minimum Skills and Abilities Required 1. Bachelor s Degree in Accounting 2. Clear working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. 3. Strong written and oral communication skills. 4. Ability to follow through and pay attention to detail. 5. Understanding of accounting principles and ability to apply knowledge of job functions. Functional Requirements 1. Sedentary position must be able to sit for prolong periods at a time. 2. Must be able to push pull and occasionally lift or carry up to 10-20 lbs as required to access file boxes supplies etc. 3. Manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and telephone systems and other typical office equipment. 4. Excellent organizational skills with a high consideration to detail and accuracy. 5. Must be able to be trusted with confidential information. 6. Adept to time management and able to work with deadlines. 7. Ability to communicate clearly and work independently and with others.
