About Japanese maple Acer palmatum &lsquoBihou&rsquo

One of the more regal plants that can be employed in the garden is the Japanese maple (Acer palmatum). Given the enormous variety among cultivated types it is challenging to define a typical Japanese maple. Japanese maple can be cultivated as either small single-stemmed trees or huge multi-stemmed shrubs growing anywhere from six to 25 feet tall making them suitable for a wide range of landscapes. The leaves can have five to nine deeply cut lobes and range in color from dark green to crimson or reddish-purple. Bihou Japanese Maple seems interesting in the winter because of its beautiful fall color and layered branches. This tiny tree is quite coveted due to its spectacular seasonal colors. The hue of the leaves changes from a light yellow-green with a pink flush to a vivid yellow in the fall. In the spring they are green. Twigs and young branches add a yellow to apricot-orange tint to the winter environment. For more information info(at)coniferkingdom.com
