Cost and Controls SpecialistLocation Purcellville VAPls. apply online at www.silverlake-construction.com careersEmployment Class Full Time RegularPosition Summary Silver Lake Construction LLC is seeking a qualified Cost and Controls Specialist who is responsible for understanding the entire AP and AR processes coding both types of documents for processing by our corporate accounting department at Potawatomi Federal Solutions (PFS) and maintaining internal controls as established by PFS. Activities include interfacing with project personnel vendors and customers and working with other internal departments to ensure corporate compliance. The Cost and Controls Specialist reports directly to the Silver Lake Construction General Manager and must have a strong working relationship with the PFS Construction Accounting Manager.Position Scope Performs job responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner communicates with management and co-workers in an effective courteous and professional manner abides by all regulations policies work procedures and instruction as required and treats personal information sensitive data and other financial information on a need-to-know basis and in a strictly confidential manner. The employee performing this position will be responsible for hands-on job cost accounting to include project budget setup suppliers and subcontractors A P coding and client invoice coding. The successful candidate must be actively involved with the project management team to ensure they get the direction support needed.Essential Functions Employee performing this position is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand walk use hands to finger handle and feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be frequently sitting and occasionally required to climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and or move ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this position include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide timely and effective communications and data to staff in Corporate Accounting so they possess the necessary information to perform successfully Support the AP and AR functions in an automated and high-volume environment Ensure all payments and invoices are in accordance with company policy and approval flow Audit employee expense reimbursement reports before submitting to corporate for processing Audit and process credit card bills Reconcile vendor statements Perform a monthly review and resolve outstanding checks Work with corporate accounting staff to support the AP AR reconciliations as needed and identify resolve any reconciling items Identify issues and or areas for improvement in the work environment production processes projects and systems. Participate in testing upgrades and implementation of financial AP software as requested Basic knowledge of internal controls and ability to recommend changes and additions to policies processes as needed Communicate and enforce accounting policies and procedures Respond to customer requests in a timely manner and conduct research as needed Ad-hoc reporting Input accurate data into ProCore on all aspects of the construction projects Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor s degree in accounting or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience or five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience (preferably in commercial construction) Proficient in MS Office applications Excel Word and Outlook Proficient in accounting and reporting applications experience in ProCore Superior time management skills attention to detail multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision Good analytic skills with a strong attention to detail Strong communication skills both verbal and written Silver Lake Construction LLC is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
