Your PostScript emulation cartridge gives you 47 fonts from which to choose. You will be able to create and print full-page graphics at 300 dpi. And your output can be stretched shaded and rotated to any angle.The Turboscript cartridge uses highly acclaimed NimbusQ fonts and the versatile Freedom of the Press interpreter from CAI. It supports Adobe Postscript and is Type I compatible. Which this means to you is very simple. You will need an additional 1MB of memory to use the Turboscript cartridge (1.5 MB total). If you purchased the package with the UDP memory board included install the memory board before you use this cartridge. If you need extra memory contact you local dealer for a UDP memory expansion board.PostScript FontsPostScript is a Page Description Language (PDL) that allows you to emulate a PostScript printer such as the Apple LaserWriter II NT. It supports all PostScript commands. This gives you the ability to create complex graphics and text as weel as scale outline fonts to any size and rotate them to any angle.Every character in a PostScript font is mathematically drawn from an outline thus the name outline fonts . Because of this feature each character can be treated as a graphic and stretched skewed rotated shadowed and so on. (page 14)You can select either mode via the control panel or from your computer through the software utility whichever is more convenient. The utility diskette provided with your TurboScript cartridge contains four files in the TOGGLE directory. Copy the directory contents on to your hard disk using the DOS command COPY A TOGGLE . C (or an appropriate drive location).With the TOGGLE utility installed you can switch between Postscript and PCL without leaving your computer.Toggle between Postscript and PCLFrom the utility diskette To access Postscript type the following at the DOS prompt C TS (and press the< Enter Key> )To access PCL type the following at the DOS prompt C LJ (and press the< Enter Key> )From the printer control panel To toggle from PostScript to PCL Take the printer OFF-LINE. Press the MENU button several times to get the Exit Cart message on the LCD display and press ENTER. For the II and IID hold the MENU button and tap enter to reset. Your printer is now in the opposite mode. NOTE The utility software is not compatible with all intelligent printer spoolers and buffers. If you are using one of these devices you may need to use the control panel to switch between PostScript and PCL.CAUTIONSwitching to Postscript or PCL mode causes the printer to reinitialize which deletes any font downloaded into memory.
