The ChallengeWe are looking for 4 experienced transportation workers to join our Cumberland County Roadside Environmental team. However our Lumberton or Elizabethtown Roadside Environmental units may be the base of operations. In this role you will Perform roadside environmental operations tasks. Communicate with the public about environmental operations activities. Perform seeding and mulching herbicide applications and landscape maintenance. Perform manual labor including planting trees shrubs and flowers mulching and pruning. Safely operate hand and power tools. Install traffic and erosion control devices. What You BringKnowledge of vegetation management including shrubs trees and fertilizer using sound horticultural practices. Experience applying herbicides to control weeds and brush. Experience operating a pesticide applicator truck tractors and utility vehicles. Experience with at least one of the following Asphalt distributor Front end loader Dump truck Tractor A boom mower Mulch blower Sod seeder Tractor with sprayer attachments Brush chipper Conventional pesticide applicator Front end loader Hydroseeder Skid steer Notes Safety toe shoes are required. A Class A Commercial Driver s License (CDL) with Tanker (N) endorsement is required but you will be given 60 days from hire to obtain a Class A CDL Permit and 90 days from hire to obtain a Class A CDL Driver s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. A pre-employment drug testing is required. We will do a background check of your employers for the past 2 years for controlled substances alcohol testing. You must be able to obtain an inmate card from NC Department of Public Safety to transport inmates. We will conduct a criminal history check. We will provide you with complete necessary training and orientation. You must be at least 21 years of age. Education & ExperienceHigh school GED diploma and 5 years of relevant experience or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
