The ChallengeWe are hiring a Senior Utility Coordinator to join our Raleigh HQ team. In this role you will Work with a Utilities Engineer to review highway construction plans to develop preliminary relocation and avoidance plans in advance of roadway projects. Present plans to utility owners. Coordinate roadway construction design activities with utility owners. Assist owners with developing construction schedules. Manage the utilities relocation schedule to ensure no utility causes a delay in the roadway project schedule. Develop preliminary utilities project estimates. Review estimates prepared by owners. Approve payments to utility owners. Coordinate planning for environmental compliance by reviewing submissions for accuracy completeness and compliance with standards. Interpret NC General Statues to assist in determining responsibility of utility construction and design costs eligibility for assistance in purchasing easements and recommending requested easements for approval and purchase. What You BringExperience reading and interpreting highway construction plans and utility construction plans. Excellent communications and negotiation skills to work with public agencies contractors and utility companies. Project management experience in scheduling and coordinating multiple project factors. Experience planning and coordinating utility relocations. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Thorough knowledge of surveying and materials methods and equipment used in highway or building construction. Thorough knowledge of math functions including algebra geometry and trigonometry. Drafting skills. Skills using survey instruments computers calculators and office equipment. Ability to read interpret and explain construction plans contract provisions specifications inspection procedures and related documents. Ability to take notes and prepare review reports. NoteThe role is located in Raleigh but will require occasional statewide travel sometimes overnight. Education & ExperienceAssociate s Degree in engineering technology and 6 years experience as a technician or High School GED and 8 years experience as a technician or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
