A tentative has been reached by most of the signatory countries to a further extension of the terms of the Treaty until March 28 1951 and a conference is now scheduled to be held in Canada in September of this year to discuss and formulate a new regional agreement. A Committee whose membership includes representatives of the broadcast industry the State Department and the Federal Communications Commission is presently engaged in preparatory work on the problem which will be encountered in connection with drafting the new agreement. The projects initiated by the joint preparatory committee include one wherein an analysis of the performance characteristics of directional antennas have been selected for observation and for measurement . and included therein are stations that operate on the same frequency as your station. In order to insure the best possible results in these measurements and recordings it is necessary that the channels be cleared of all sources of interference during the measurement period. The measurement of stations on your frequency are such that the silence of your station during the period indicated is required. Pursuant to Section 3.72 of Commission Rules you are hereby directed to remain silent during the period 1 00AM LOCAL STANDARD TIME to 4 00 AM LOCAL STANDARD TIME.
