I. Job Summary Under moderate supervision performs a wide variety of skilled painting duties at a company facility. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Paints varnishes stains enamels lacquers and redecorates walls woodwork and fixtures of the facility. Mixes paint and matches colors. Uses brushes sprayers or rollers to apply paint or other coatings. Removes old finish using scrapers chemical compounds or blowtorches. Paints commercial containers for trash organics and recyclables also paints roll off boxes. Uses spray gun and at times a roller to paint containers. Cleans washes sands and prepares containers before painting. Assembles bins after painting adding labels and lids then moves across the yard outside with forklift. Daily inventory of bins containers at end of day. Fills in nail holes joints and cracks in walls with plaster or fillers. Estimates time and material costs on painting and redecorating projects. Completes purchase requisitions to obtain new painting supplies and equipment. Performs additional duties as requested. III. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory duties. IV. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. A. Education and Experience Education None required. Experience One (1) year of experience as a painter. B. Certificates Licenses Registrations or Other Requirements A respirator is required to paint Physical required respirator focused examination and respirator fit test Must be willing and able to be trained and certified as a forklift operator C. Other Knowledge Skills or Abilities Required Preferred Experience painting with a spray gun Preferred Experience painting metal preferably in a shop environment Forklift experience is a plus V. Normal setting for this job May spend approximately 50% of time outdoors and approximately 50% of time indoors in a shop.
